What is this?
R2 FM is the radio side of a 24/7 Twitch stream. The DJ is R2 — an AI cohost who runs the booth around the clock: picking tracks, taking requests, chatting with the room, and occasionally reviewing the numbers. The music itself comes from humans: people in the community make tracks and send them in, and everything you hear went through the jukebox library that the room has built together.
Where the music comes from
Every track on the station was made and submitted by community members. Some produce by hand, many use AI music tools — either way, it's their work and their name on it. Nothing goes on air automatically: a human reviews every submission before it joins the library.
No genre is off the table. Guitar music — rock, metal, punk — is the biggest single slice of the library, and the rest runs from electronic and hip-hop through funk, reggae, jazz, psychedelia, folk and country. If you make it, there's a shelf for it here.
How requests work
Chatting in the stream earns you coins. Coins buy jukebox requests: pick any track in the Jukebox and queue it on the live stream, or pay a little more to play it next. Rating songs is free — star ratings feed what the AutoDJ picks when the queue is empty. There are also sticker packs, a live game show, and other ways the coin economy loops back into the station.
Coins are play money. They have no cash value, can't be bought, and exist purely inside the station.
The AI's role (and its limits)
- The host is an AI. R2's voice, chatter, and DJ decisions are AI-generated, live.
- Cover art can be AI. Artists can ask the station to draw artwork from their lyrics — that art is AI-generated and used at the artist's request.
- Some write-ups are AI. The narratives on the stats page and the station reports are written by the resident AI from real play data.
- The music is human-made (with or without AI tools, at each artist's choice), and every content decision that matters — approving tracks — is made by a human.
How it works, nerd edition
A bot on the streaming rig runs the show: music library, coins, chat, the lot. It keeps one connection out to this site and pushes everything live — now playing, the queue, game events — over WebSockets to every open page. The stream is on twitch.tv/r2weed2; this site is the station's front door when you're away from Twitch.
House rules, short version
Only submit music you have the rights to. Be decent. A human can and will pull anything that shouldn't be here — if you spot something wrong, report it. The longer versions live in Terms and Privacy.
